The first set was competitive - Radwanska got the only break of the set for a 3-1 lead, and the two players went into a holding pattern from there until the set was over. But then the No.1-seeded Pole went into cruise control, eventually winning by a 6-3, 6-1 scoreline after an hour and 13 minutes.

"I'm feeling very well. It was another good match here for me," Radwanska said.

"I didn't know her before, so I'm really happy with this win, and I'm just ready for the next one."

The World No.9 was asked about the strong turn-out for the match. "I see more and more people coming out," she said. "It's great to see an almost full stadium. Hopefully they'll keep coming!"

Next up for Radwanska is former World No.20 Koukalova, who won her second round match against Vera Zvonareva on Wednesday and had the day off on Thursday. Radwanska has beaten Koukalova in straight sets in both previous meetings, though they haven't played each other in almost eight years.

"We played a few times, but it was a long time ago," Radwanska said. "We've played a couple of club matches every year for practice, but none on the tour for the last few years. It'll be another good challenge - she plays very well here, and I saw her against Vera, and she played a very good one.

"I'm looking forward to it - I'm sure it's not going to be easy."

Other winners as the second round wrapped up saw No.7 seed Kirsten Flipkens miss out on triple set point in the first set tie-break but battle back to get by Monica Niculescu, 6-7(6), 6-1, 6-4, No.8-seeded WTA Rising Star Anna Karolina Schmiedlova rally past Katerina Siniakova in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, and Russian lucky loser Elizaveta Kulichkova surprise the No.5 seed, Kaia Kanepi, 6-1, 6-2.

All four quarterfinal matches will take place on Friday at the International-level tournament, with home favorite Radwanska's match against Koukalova wrapping things up as the feature night match.
