A. Radwanska To Headline 2015 Tianjin Open

2015-6-24

24 June, 2015 - Tianjin Open announced today that Agnieszka Radwanska is the first marquee player to join the 2015 edition to be held at the Tianjin Tuanbo International Tennis Center from 10-18 October in Tianjin, China.

Radwanska has claimed 14 singles titles during her career, highlighted by a career-high ranking of No.2 in July 2012 and a run of 187 consecutive weeks ranked inside the Top 10. This year the Pole has reached the semi finals of Katowice and Nottingham and the fourth round of the Australian Open.

Off-the-court Radwanska is also a hit with the fans, after claiming the WTA's most popular player award for four consecutive years (2011–14) - the most of any WTA player.

"Tennis has become so popular in China over the last few years, and I am excited to see one of the newer WTA tournaments there and play in front of all the fans in Tianjin," enthused the 26-year-old Radwanska.

"Tianjin Open has invested significantly to make some great improvements - including the addition of Hawk-Eye, which will make this year’s tournament more attractive and competitive," Radwanska added.
Tournament organizers announced earlier this year that prize money would double to USD 500,000 in 2015, followed by the decision to implement Hawk-Eye for the next three years, as the Tianjin Open continues to grow into one of the best destinations on the WTA.

"We are thrilled to have a high calibre player in Agnieszka choose to play the Tianjin Open this year," remarked Tournament Director, Stephen Duckitt. "Agnieszka is very popular amongst the fans and has enjoyed an excellent career inside the WTA Top 10. We are looking forward to welcoming her in the Tianjin Open family and seeing her showcase her talents in front of the Tianjin Open crowd this October."
